Data deletion & requests

Staysette lets you disconnect your Instagram connection, delete your account, or request a copy of your data at any time. This page explains how, what we remove, what (if anything) we have to keep, and how long it takes. The full disclosure of categories, lawful bases, and retention is in our Privacy Policy.
Just saved a hotel? (no creator account)
If you only saved a hotel on a creator's shelf — you don't have a Staysette creator account — use the self-serve flow at /saver-data-deletion. You enter your email, we send a one-tap confirm link, and clicking it erases everything we hold about you in seconds.
Quick summary
- Email privacy@staysette.com from the email address on your Staysette account.
- Put one of the following in the subject line: Disconnect Instagram, Delete my account, or Data export.
- We respond within 15 days. For complex requests we may extend by up to 30 to 45 days where the law allows, and we will tell you why.
- You can also revoke Staysette's Instagram access directly from Instagram at any time (see “Revoke from Instagram” below).
Disconnect Instagram
Email us with subject “Disconnect Instagram” and include the Instagram handle on your account.
What we remove: the stored Instagram user ID we use as proof of verification, and your verified-handle status. Your /[handle] page returns to a pending-verification state.
What we keep: your Staysette account itself, plus any booking + payout history (subject to the 7-year retention disclosed in the Privacy Policy). You can re-verify later by connecting Instagram again.
What we never had: we discard the Instagram access token immediately after the username check, so there is no token to revoke on our side. To fully revoke Staysette's authorization inside Instagram, see the next section.
Revoke from Instagram directly
You can remove Staysette's authorization from inside Instagram at any time, without emailing us:
- Open Instagram on the web or mobile.
- Go to Settings → Apps and websites (Settings → Security → Apps and Websites on some versions).
- Find Staysette in the list.
- Tap Remove.
Instagram will immediately invalidate any connection on their side. Your stored Instagram user ID on Staysette will remain until you also email us to disconnect — or you can leave it and simply not re-verify.
Delete your Staysette account
Email us with subject “Delete my account” from the email on your account.
What we delete within 15 days:
- Your creator profile, claimed Instagram handle, and display settings.
- Your stored Instagram user ID (verification proof).
- Your saver records, applications, and email-me-later captures.
- Your Clerk authentication record (we instruct Clerk to delete).
- Your PostHog analytics identity (we instruct PostHog to delete).
- Your Resend send history is added to a permanent suppression list so we never email you again.
- Your Stripe Connect linkage on our side (the Stripe account itself stays yours; you control its closure with Stripe).
What we anonymize but keep: booking and payout receipts are retained for 7 years for US tax compliance. The personally-identifiable fields (name, email) are anonymized within 90 days; the financial trail (transaction id, amount, currency, hotel, creator) stays. After 7 years, those records are also deleted.
Heads up on pending earnings: earnings already in the available bucket will be paid out before deletion completes. Earnings still in the pending or held buckets may be forfeited, so it's worth waiting until pending earnings clear.
Request a copy of your data
Email us with subject “Data export” and we'll send a JSON bundle of the personal data we hold about you within 15 days.
Response window
A real person reads every email. Standard response window: 15 days. Where the law allows, we may extend by up to 30 to 45 days for complex requests, and we will tell you why. If you don't hear back within 7 days, please re-send the email — it may have been filtered.
